Hello,
Today I turned on my computer only to discover that
the LED of the cd-rom drive stayed on after POST. It
has been on ever since and (linux 2.2.12) hasn't be
able to detect the cd-rom drive. I'm running a Compaq
Presario 4160 and I doubt it is the 9999 bug or a
linux kernel bug (since I've always used it without
any trouble, for about 2 years now). I think its more
likely to be a hardware problem. Can anyone please
suggest to me what might be the problem?
