copying Mac HD to Linux

What is the fastest way to copy all files from a Macintoh HD to the Linux disk (on a 
physically different machine)? Let's say I'm only interested in the data fork and you 
can ignore the resource fork. There is no fast network available, so a serial or 
parallel cable will be the only hardware to use.
