The protocol for attachments is MIME

that insert messages into the mail system).
Netscape Messenger

o good graphical user interface MUA

o GPL
o excellent programmable editor
o good commmand-line-style MUA
mailto
o incl. with metamail-2.7
o Bellcore public license
o good command-line (scriptable) MUA
