        I lack time for a full answer, but recommend that
you purchase

        "Essential System Administration" and optionally
        "System Performance Tuning"
        from O'Reilly & Associates, Inc.

        In general, hard disk problems should be corrected
as soon as discovered, because they tend to grow
quadratically with time if unchecked.

        I am uncertain, but believe that "File Table
Overflow" indicates that there are too many files (or
too few file name blocks allocated) on the disk.  The
only cure that I know of is to MANUALLY remove (and
copy elsewhere) as many of the small files as you can.

        Long term, you should consider, backing up the
entire partition, reformatting the partition (with
more file blocks), and restoring the data file-by-file.
