a simple 'man' command will create the appropriate file in /var/catman

/var/catman is there to keep pre-formated man pages available so that the
man pages
that are the most often read won't need to be preprocessed more than
once. This saves
CPU time but loose hard drive space.
if /var/catman directory is not there, man understand that it should not
keep pre-formated
pages.
