In trying to get XFree working under Redhat 6.1, I get this
error message:
Warning: /dev/mouse unable to get status of mouse fd
(inappropriate ioctl for device)
I'm using an MS Intellimouse, /dev/mouse -> /dev/psaux
I've tried killing GPM first (actually, shutting it off
during booting, so that it never even loaded), and tried
using other protocols (Logitech, Microsoft, Mouseman, etc.)
The current config in XF86Config for the mouse:
Section "Pointer"
Protocol "PS/2"
Device "/dev/mouse"
SampleRate 60
Emulate3Buttons
Emulate3Timeout 200
BaudRate 1200
EndSection
I;ve tried XF86Setup and xf86config to generate mouse
settings, to no avail.
The mouse works fine on the console (with GPM running),
but when i startx, kde loads up and the mouse jumps all
over the place, almost at random, and sends arbitrary
click events.
Anybody ever have this problem before (surely!), and
get it working? Your help is much appreciated!!!
thanks!!
