Hi All I have a problem running java on a RedHat 6.1 box. Each time I run a java program I get the message: Font specified in font.properties not found [--zapf dingbats-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] (Note that it does not occur because in my java progam I am calling up some rare font. Simply adding a label to a textbox is enough to make this font error appear on the command line.) The jdk version I have installed is jdk-1.2.2-RC4-linux-i386-glibc-2.1.2 The font.properties file in /usr/local/jdk1.2.2/jre/lib lists this font: serif.1=--zapf dingbats-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific but for some reason it can't be found when running something. All the XFree86 installed fonts are listed in my XF86Config file and the font manager xfs is running. If I do a chkfontpath --list all the installed fonts come up. The best explanation I can come up with is that "--zapf dingbats-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific" belongs to a font library which I don't have at all. Presumably I have to put it in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts, and then add it with chkfontpath --add. Does anyone know to which font library the above font belongs? Or if there is another solution to the problem, could you please let me know? Your help will be most appreciated.
