Hi

I am wondering if someone can help me with a rather intractable problem.
I have compiled elm filter 2.1 on a linux Redhat 6.0 machine which is
also our mail server. It compiles OK, but the problem is that when you
do any filtering by placing a pipe to the filter program in your
.forward file, all messages that are not subject to filtering (i.e.
those not subject to filtering in the filter-rules program) do not
appear in the mailbox.

I think this due to a problem with the macro expansion of %u, that is,
filter should find the mailbox var/spool/mail/username for a particular
user by using the %u macro (in the config file it states it is using
/var/spool/mail/%u). I suspect %u does not map to the username and
therefore non-filtered messages are not placed in the
/var/spool/mail/username folder as filter does not know what the
username is.

Anyone come across this problem before? Is there a solution to this?

Your help will be most appreciated.

Thanks
