I know the laptop, got one here myself. (In general I hate compaqs,
wouldn't recommend them at all, but the armada seems to do ok. Same
for one of the satellite series we also have. Much prefer a dell
inspiron, but ymmv :)
Not much docs, but the magic file is:
/etc/sysconfig/pcmcia
In there, make it say:
PCMCIA=yes
PCIC=i82365
PCIC_OPTS=
CORE_OPTS=
Then simply run the cardmgr daemon with:
chkconfig --level 2345 pcmcia on
/etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start
Very nice, works exactly as expected... put the cards in,
autodetected and brings up the network/serial ports. Take them out,
and it brings them down again. Very nice.
BTW, the pcmcia that comes with redhat 6.2 (even in last week's
updated kernel packages) is very broken, don't bother upgrading to
it.
Cheers
Tony
