Good luck, I've gotten mine to work via the PS/2 adaptor on my Toshiba 4060XCDT, Red Hat 7beta.
The scroll wheel does work provided you make the appropriate changes in your XF86Config file. The extra buttons are unsupported at the moment, AFAIK.
Sometimes the mouse will go nuts and jump to the top right corner and lock itself there, but that is not inherent to the optical mouse, normal plain Jane PS/2 MS mice do the same thing (both as /dev/mouse and /dev/psaux). Don't know if that is Xfree 4.0 or not... Time to look for patches!
I haven't worked up the nerve, or the time yet to see if RH7b's USB support is there...

Subject: Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer drivers?

I just bought a new mouse for my screaming PIII750 Laptop, and it just happens to be Microsoft's new optical mouse (no ball...it uses a laser to find movement)...and I was hoping that this beast was compatible with Linux...I am looking for linux drivers.  Any ideas?
