Here;s the promised list of minutes of the meeting and the participant
list for the IV ILUG-Delhi meeting. It's in HTML (sorry, making
tables in plain text is out).

Will everyone please check out if they have any responsibilities in
the list and drive them? I'm sure all of us in the list are available
as resources.

Regards,

Title: IV Linux-Delhi Meeting

IV Linux-Delhi Meeting

The IV Linux-Delhi (ILUG-Delhi in its canonical form (private joke)) was held on Sunday the 21st March at the residence of Mr S C Jain near Gole Market. Despite the directions never making it to the list (Majordomo steadfastly refused to relay the messages containing the directions and map), 17 people turned up for the meeting.

The meeting kicked off with tea and snacks (many thanks to Mr and Mrs S C Jain) and subsequent introductions. In the meantime Sameer Lalwani, Manish Jain and their team were busy setting up the 3-node network with a laptop Linux server and two desktop nodes. Afterwards Raj Mathur gave a quick introduction to BIND-8 (DNS setup using the latest named) which he basically read out from the HOWTO and translated.

Once DNS was set up, V Krishnan took up the task of explaining how Samba works and how to configure it. This led to a fairly animated discussion, both during and after the demonstration, with Krishnan and Ghane (Sanjeev Gupta) fielding questions from all fronts. Samba seems to be a real winner in the Linux app fold, since the level of interest and discussion the demo generated was high. Questions ranged from how to set up a Windows box to access Samba, to how to configure Samba to use the same password database as /etc/passwd, while having encryption enabled and not editing Windows' registries.

Most finally decamped to Wengers in Connaught Place after the meeting for cutlets and patties, followed by the mandatory cold milkshake at Keventers.

The list of attendees with e-mail and contact phones is available here.
