i have users logging into samba from win98 clients, so that the f:
drive is their home directory on the linux box. how can the make this
f: shareable to their fellow win98 clients? (i looked at the docs
rather quickly, and couldn't find any solution.)

I am assuming that your Samba is configured to use user login names to map
their F: to their home directories. This is done using Samba variables.
What I would try (And have never actually done yet..) is as follows :
Let's say user akr has a home directory of /home/akr. This is
atomatically shared by Samba for the user akr when he logs in.
Now go and add a section in your Samba configuration for explicitly
sharing this /home/akr ( or any other subdirectory) for others. This way the
same directory is shared for users as two separate shares. You probably need
to give the new share a different name though because each share must be
uniquely named.
