1. Have you made pppd executable by all
#chmod u+s /usr/sbin/pppd
2. pppd given a global alias of ppp in /etc/bashrc
3. uncommented the AutoPPP/ - - ..... line in /etc/mgetty+sendfax/login.config
4. Have you assigned an ip to the client in /etc/ppp/options.ttySx (where x is the COM
port number starting with 0 for COM 1)
[ Please note ppp will start auto for ppp users and normal users will have to type ppp
at the prompt ]
5. Also please read the PPP-HOWTO to understand nuts+boltz of putting up a ppp dialin
server
