I believe that there is an IP Masquerading HOWTO, but here's the
distilled version:

1) Get a working connection to the net through your LINUX box.
2) Make sure that you have set up a static IP on the ethernet card on
your LINUX box (I recomend 192.168.1.1 but any of the Internic reserved
numbers will work)
3) Make sure that ipfwadm has been installed on your LINUX box (it should
have been by default, but...)
4) set up your ipfwadm firewalling rules (there are a number of good
examples for this out there, but I can send you an example file if you
want)
5) On your Windows box, under Networking (in Control Panel) make sure
that TCP/IP has been installed for your ethernet card (NIC) on it.
6) Still in Networking, TCP/IP for the NIC go to Properties -> IP Address
and Specify an IP Address (here I recomend 192.168.1.2 but once again,
stay within the confines of the Internic reserved addresses).
7) Go to the Gateway tab and add a new gateway IP address, use the
address you gave to your LINUX box (192.168.1.1 in my example)
8) Go to the DNS Configuration tab and add the IP address(es) for the
Domain Name Server(s) that your ISP uses (if they haven't given you this
info yet, call or e-mail them and get it)
9) Hit OK and reboot windows (Windows *always* wants to reboot :P )
10) You'll have to add the same DNS stuff to your LINUX box too.

Don't forget to read the HOWTOs. They can be life savers and save you
from waiting for someone to give you the answere that you may already
have in the HOWTO.

peace favor your sword

Subject: Dial on demand from a Win95 box

I have installed redhat 5.2 and diald 0.16.5a on one box and win95 on
another. From the linux box, diald works without any problems, now. What
I
woul
d like to do, have the win95 box access the Internet through the linux
box.

I have read the docs, but admit I don't understand everything in them. My
question, how do I get diald to recognize the request for Internet access
f
rom Netscape on the win95 box. Which ip should I have Netscape look to,
do I
point to a proxy on the linux box.

Lost.
