I had this problem once.. It had to do with RH's config thing not putting
in an entry to the local machines DNS name in hosts... pppd seems to do a
reverse lookup on that before it kicks in...

I have been trying to get diald to work. Everything seems to work
okay,
except, once the connection is established, dialed forks pppd. The
next line
of the messages log says "child died with signal 1" and shows the
PID of pppd.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
