Could be :) I don't use his script.

Did you remember to start diald using the '-daemon' setting? If you leave
that off it will display the problem you are seeing. I was sure this is
covered in the FAQ file.
For example if you look on my machine:
in the init file you'd see:
daemon /usr/sbin/dialmon -pppp0 -b49333 -rISP1
in the dialmon.conf file you'd see:
ddconf ISP1 "/usr/sbin/diald -daemon"
It's the line in dialmon.conf that you have to worry about.

No, it seems to work perfectly with 0.16.5. It's 0.98.3 that gives me
headaches. :)
