Hi,
I'm trying to configure up a box to do auto-dialling and firewalling and
need some info.
My current setup is this:
P-60, 32MB, RedHat 5.2 box running sendmail / squid services.
K6-2 300, running Win98/RH 5.2 "workstation".
I'm able to surf the 'net and stuff ok at the moment with the existing
setup, but I have an old 486DX-2 just lying about and I want to put it to
good use. I was thinking of this
Using it as an automatic dial-up machine (currently I doing this "by hand"
or via a cron job - currently done on a separate machine).
The machine is a DX-2 66, 16MB, with a 320MB HD. I know it's a little bit
light but the other 1GB drive I had in there died on me the other day for
some reason. I have RH 5.2 loaded on it quite happily, and I've about
90-100MB free disk.
I suppose my questions are these:
(1) I can't seem to configure DIALD properly. It doesn't seem to want to do
anything. As far as I can tell DIALD starts ok, there are messages in
/var/log/messages to indicate that everything went ok, but I I don't see any
messages in the log file after that.
(2) Has anyone got any tutorials on installing/configuring this? The doc's
with it are a little vague, and the mailing list doesn't appear to be
archived anywhere (or at least not where the homepage says they are).
(3) I'm assuming that all I need to do on the other machines is just point
their gateway settings at this new machine, and when I do a ping / telnet /
www access DIALD will just kick in as needed?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Richard
