This is very like the case of a "by the book" ISDN connection
I was considering (where you might have it all set up but want
diald to trigger dialling and hangup).
Hold on for diald 0.98.4 (or, more probably, 0.99 :-) ) which
has the ability to proxy-snoop a real interface which may even
be the actual interface which will be used after the connect
script has activated it. If you follow that...
