The following is a log of my connect to my ISP using a "ppp-on" script
(essentially RedHat's "usernetctl ifcfg-ppp0 up"):

Sep 6 12:41:24 harvey diald[388]: Delaying 6 seconds before clear to dial.
(diald the trys again, and might connect after a few tries.)

The "Host is unavailable" is triggering a diald connect failure, but the
host is available.

Does anyone have an explanation for what is going on here? In both cases
the same "chat" script is used. What is triggering the "Host is Currently
Unavailable"? It shows up if I use diald, but I have never seen it with the
direct ppp-on access (or in the logs using other systems). I think it is a
diald bug. Unfortunately, I can't use diald with a connect option that
class my "ppp-on" script. Again another bug since the diald man page
implies I can use any legal sh (or other ) script; all that ever works for
my is:
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0" .

There is clearly some "hidden" issue in diald involving the way it uses
chat, etc. The above problem occurs before there is any ppp0 interface
instantiated.
