I must be missing something but I can't get Diald to work 'out-of-the-box'
with RedHat Linux 5.1. I thought it was a pretty clean install.
Diald-0.16.5-201.i386.rpm and diald-config-0.16.5-201.i386.rpm installed
fine after I upgrade to ppp-2.3.3-2.i386.rpm. I got error messages when I
try to install the 'unmetered' RPM from the RedHat site wanting diald-1.1
or some such.
When I start diald (/etc/rc.d/init.ddiald start) I get the 'sl0'
interface when I check it with ifconfig. When I try something netty
nothing I can see happens.
So before I throw the hat in and try from again scratch I'd like to try
to figure out why diald nevers dials. (BTW I have ppp working fine, ifup
ppp0 and ifdown ppp0 no problem.) Could one of you provide a flow of the
scripts that are called when I try to ping a hostname?
TIA,
Rod

Please don't tell my mother I'm a System Administrator.
