I'm having trouble with diald and RH5.
Diald brings up the link when needed, but drops it because it thinks the
connect has timed out even though the link is well established.
Here is the log:
May 1 16:25:15 linus pppd[5789]: Serial connection established.
May 1 16:25:16 linus pppd[5789]: Using interface ppp0
May 1 16:25:16 linus pppd[5789]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cub0

May 1 16:25:51 linus pppd[5789]: Terminating on signal 2.
May 1 16:25:52 linus pppd[5789]: Connection terminated.
May 1 16:25:52 linus diald[5665]: SIGHUP: modem got hung up on.
May 1 16:25:52 linus pppd[5789]: Exit.
May 1 16:25:52 linus diald[5665]: Closing modem line.
May 1 16:25:53 linus diald[5665]: Delaying 30 seconds before clear to dial.
Here is my diald.conf:
fifo /etc/diald/diald-ppp0.ctl
lock
mode ppp
device /dev/cub0
modem
local 192.168.0.1
remote 192.168.0.2
debug 10
dynamic
pppd-options asyncmap 0
defaultroute
connect /etc/ppp/connect
include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter
/etc/ppp/ppp-on:
TELEPHONE=92744107
ACCOUNT=XXXX
PASSWORD=YYYYYYYYY
LOCAL_IP=0.0.0.0
REMOTE_IP=0.0.0.0
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
export TELEPHONE ACCOUNT PASSWORD
DIALER_SCRIPT=/etc/ppp/ppp-on-dialer
exec /usr/sbin/pppd debug lock modem crtscts /dev/cub0 38400 \
asyncmap 20A0000 escape FF kdebug 0 $LOCAL_IP:$REMOTE_IP \
noipdefault netmask $NETMASK defaultroute connect $DIALER_SCRIPT
The dialer script:
#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/sbin/chat -v \
TIMEOUT 3 \
ABORT '\nBUSY\r' \
ABORT '\nNO ANSWER\r' \
ABORT '\nRINGING\r\n\r\nRINGING\r' \
'' \rAT \
'OK-+++\c-OK' ATH0 \
TIMEOUT 60 \
OK ATDT$TELEPHONE \
CONNECT '' \
ogin:--ogin: $ACCOUNT \
assword: $PASSWORD
These are taken from the doc/ppp scripts directory, and work like a champ
from the command line. I only changed the device, phone number, and login
info.
I also tried a stripped down version after reading the man pages about
things that should -not- be in ppp options, like so:
#!/bin/sh
....upper portion of ppp-on
exec /usr/sbin/pppd connect $DIALER_SCRIPT
The standard.filter is straight out of the diald distribution.
With diald, the link comes up, data sometimes comes through, but diald (or
something) shuts it down.
Any suggestions?
