I have a script called diald-load that tells you the throughput on a diald
link. Let me know if you're interested. It uses the numbers given by the
diald monitor, rather than the SNMP numbers monitored by MRTG, so takes
into account compression etc. I find that diald, using CSLIP, gives me up
to 80kbits/sec throughput on a 33.6 modem.
