My ISP uses PAP -- I had to remove the parts of the script that
waited for Username: and Password prompts. PAP sends user
and password data via the protocol itself -- it doesn't need those
prompts.
Just get the script to dial the ISP. Then put the username and
password in the /etc/ppp/pap-secrets file.
My pap-secrets file looks like this:
billp * thepassword
Of course -- I can't get pppd to work now, but at least my dialer
works! Success in Linux is measured in small baby steps.
