can you please post a copy of your routing table (command: route -n).
The Broadcast doesn't look quite kosher. Off the top of my head, I'd
say that your broadcast address(es) should should look like 192.168.1.255
netmask 255.255.255.0 and network of 192.168.1.0
peace favor your sword

Subject: IP Woes
I have been trying to get diald and ipfwadm to work.
Originally, when I setup my network I used the IP addresses 1.1.1.1 and
1.1.1.20 etc (Bad !!) . They worked, but before trying to get the
fowarding t
o work I figured I would use more kosher Class C addresses such as
192.168.x.x
So, I changed the addresses on the Linux and the Windows machines. The
problem is that they no longer see each other.
I did an ifconfig and the Linux machine and I see:
eth0 ....
inet addr: 192.168.1.1 Bcast 1.1.1.255 Mask
255.255.255.0
I have no idea what Bcast is but I would think it is the source of the
problem. How can I change that parameter ? I am using Red Hat 5.1
I know, this is not the right group but you guys seem to be IP gurus....
Thanks very much.
