I am still having a problem with losing packets sent before the link has
been bought up.
A side note: I managed to format and re-install my gateway box from
scratch. The first time it took me a week off and on to get squid, socks5,
diald, dialmon and rh5.2 going. This time I installed RH6 and everything
else in four hours, so am rather pleased with myself.
Anyway, I am running an ISDN modem, with a fixed local IP address, packet
buffering is on. Local cached named server is running. I seem to randomly
lose the first packets sent out. Sometimes I get data back, other times it
is as if the data never went out over the link.
Can anyone help me with where to look? What logging do I turn on and where
do I look for the results. I would like to sort this out before I dabble
with ipchains (the reason I installed RH6).
