I've gotten several messages (THANKS!) so I thought I would send only one
response. I had a suspicion that the baud rate of the bitsurfer was set too
high, so I reset it with some dip switches which are on the back of the TA, and
guess what, it worked. I can now get a connection with ppp0, but diald is
presenting an error in my messages and never connects. The error is "could not
get initial terminal attributes:Input/output error". It occurs 8 times for
each attempt at dialing. Perhaps for each of the lines in my chat-ppp0. What
does this error mean.
