Hi,
I'm trying to improve my ppp connection using diald. My redhat 6.0 has
ethernet and ppp link.
I usually connect my ISP getting dynamic address allocation for my ppp
interface.
ppp0 has defaultroute and ppptions 'noipdefault ipcp-accept-local' to accept
the dynamic
assignment.
I' installed these rpms:
diald-config-metered-0.2-2
diald-0.99-1
diald-config-1.2.1-1
and then configured interface sl0 as default route (I guess it is needed to
awake diald...)
When I try to reach an ipaddress outside my lan diiald starts and I get
these messages
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga pppd[1887]: local IP address 192.168.0.1
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga pppd[1887]: remote IP address xxx.yyy.xxx.zzz
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga diald[540]: New addresses: local 192.168.0.1, remote
xxx.yyy.xxx.zzz, broadcast 0.0.0.0
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga diald[540]: start ppp0: SIOCSIFMETRIC: Operation not
supported
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga diald[540]: start ppp0: RTNETLINK error: File exists
Aug 20 01:25:42 yoga diald[540]: start ppp0: RTNETLINK error: File exists
then the defaultroute to sl0 disappears, the connection stays up but no
useful routing is in place.
Why the local adderss is not set from the dynamic assignment?
What is the meaning of the error messages?
Why default route is not properly set as when just pppd is used?
Please help
