I'm using diald on a linux box running Mandrake 6.0. The diald program appears to be mostly working; when I ping an outside address diald does fire up the modem. Unfortunately, it doesn't connect, and I do not understand why, since I'm using the same chatscript for diald that I use for my manual ppp connection. At the risk of providing far too much information, I'm including the appropriate portion of my /var/log/messages where diald fails, along with a successful connection log, diald.conf, my ppp connect script, and the chatscript that both use. Suggestions? Thanks, Grant Goodyear PS. Incidentally, I'm using Southwestern Bell as my ISP, which uses PAP. PPS. Yes, SLIP is compiled into the kernel. ---/var/log/messages -- diald fails Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: -- got it Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: send (ATS109=0^M) Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: expect (OK) Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: ^M Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: ATS109=0^M^M Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: OK Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: -- got it Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: send (ATM0^M) Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: expect (OK) Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: ^M Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: ATM0^M^M Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: OK Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: -- got it Aug 28 00:42:15 server chat[1268]: send (ATDT7133619029^M) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: abort on (NO CARRIER) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: abort on (NO DIALTONE) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: abort on (WAITING) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: abort on (BUSY) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: timeout set to 45 seconds Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: expect (CONNECT) Aug 28 00:42:16 server chat[1268]: ^M Aug 28 00:42:44 server chat[1268]: ATDT7133619029^M^M Aug 28 00:42:44 server chat[1268]: CONNECT Aug 28 00:42:44 server chat[1268]: -- got it Aug 28 00:42:44 server chat[1268]: send (^M) Aug 28 00:42:44 server diald[1246]: Connected to site 192.168.1.2 Aug 28 00:42:44 server chat[1268]: timeout set to 20 seconds Aug 28 00:42:44 server diald[1246]: Running pppd (pid = 1269).
