Why don't you check out the fifo examples in dctrl (such as a down
request?), otherwise you can do something like (this is off the top of my
head...so may not be quite right and mileage will vary as to which PS
command you have, plus I'm sure someone could do it more elegantly...but
it's an idea), kill -9 `ps -C diald -o "%p"| tail -1'. The consequences of
that...will be you have to start diald again after your call.
Personally, I just run dctrl in a window all the time.
