The only thing I can see is that it looks like a little too much 
traffic on the loopback interface, and too many collisions on eth0.

And I'm pretty sure the slip interface for diald should still be up 
once you have a connection.

How's the performance on your local LAN?  You should get around 900 
k/sec on ftp and smb transfers.

Did you compile a custom kernel, or just turn on IP forwarding on the 
install kernel?
