Roderick:
Use dialmon. It runs on any or all of your win95 (or Win 3.x) boxes and
speaks to a process running on the linux box that stuffs commands into
diald's control fifo. All dialmon users can observe the state of the link,
and through dialmon's config file you can set permissions on a per-machine
and per-user basis that allow or deny the ability to control the link.
It was easy to install and the documentation was adequate. I am having a
problem with my firewall denying dialmon's packets when the ppp link is up,
however this is a knowledge/configuration issue rather than a dialmon
issue.
I got an RPM from a Cheap Bytes CDrom. I don't know where you will find it
on the net. If you can't find it let me know and I'll e-mail you a copy.
