Hi, Can anybody help? I installed SuSE 6.2 and a new PC (like magic - out of the box). I've set up LAN with WinNT and Win95 machines, (ip forwarding, ipchains filtering , masquerading, Samba, the works - no problem at all). I use vwdial or pppd directly to connect to ISP (dynamic address) - it all works - everybody on the LAN can see it. Now - with diald. (0.16 - from SuSE distribution) I set it up to use standard connect script (or chat - results are identical). (NB - has anybody tried to use diald with wvdial? This would be really nice) It work first time (with all funnies you expect with dynamic address - the first access hangs - I understand it - this is another problem). But - on the first disconnect, when it tries to stop pppd it dies after getting non-zero return from /sbin/route trying to reset routing tables. (the status in fact is 7 - "file exists" - whatever this means): (I set timeout to 2 minutes in order to observe it without waiting 10 minutes for it to disconnect) Oct 28 22:46:10 enigma diald[2042]: New addresses: local 195.89.145.95, remote 195.89.137.35. Oct 28 22:48:55 enigma diald[2042]: Closing down idle link. Oct 28 22:48:55 enigma diald[2042]: Nonzero exit status (7) on command '/sbin/route add 192.168.1.200 metric 1 dev sl0' After this diald is gone, routing table is in a mess - each ppp0 and sl0 entry shows twice, there are two defaults - pppd stays alive and the modem is up. Killing pppd and turning off SLIP (ifconfig sl0 down) cleans up the system so one can start diald again (if one really wanted to be masochistic) It looks like somebody (maybe diald itself) is "helping" with routing tables, locking them at the same time. Any thoughts? I could supply more details if there are takers. Best Regards Ryszard Zybert
