/etc/ppp/ip-up and .../ip-down is the same large script, installed by SuSE.
As I can tell, it was designed for the default SuSE dial-up utility "wvdial"
and is doing exactly nothing with my setup. Replacing them with
#!/bin/sh
has no effekt. There is still no sign of address rewriting in "messages" and
the first request is still failing. The SuSE-script is copy-righted (and
large ;), so I wont post it here.
