Generally with proxy servers, the user-agent makes the request to the
proxy server for information from a host on the Internet. The proxy
server would then attempt to access that page. If all is configured
well, this would cause the diald connection to be brought up.
Remote Local
Netscape ----> Squid ----> Default network interface ----> Internet
If Netscape will bring up the connection without Squid, I would either
look at the Squid configuration; or more likely at the Netscape proxy
configuration. Make sure you have the right machine name/address and port
numbers.
Caveat: I do not use squid, I use wwwoffle. However, I don't see why
there'd be that much difference between the two.
