Hi all,

since a short while I'm on a cable modem, my provider has the rule that
after 36 hours I get a new IP number so the line has to go down, Diald
solves this problem very nicely with the up keyword but when the line has
gone down I sometimes receive:

Nov  8 09:26:56 server pppd[20322]: pppd 2.3.7 started by root, uid 0
Nov  8 09:26:56 server pppd[20322]: Using interface ppp0
Nov  8 09:26:56 server pppd[20322]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1
Nov 8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: Remote message: STOP CODE 80-00
Nov 8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: PAP authentication failed
Nov 8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: LCP terminated by peer
Nov  8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Nov  8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: Modem hangup
Nov  8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: Connection terminated.
Nov  8 09:26:57 server pppd[20322]: Connect time 0.1 minutes.

Can somebody explain the STOP CODE 80-00?

                                Bas
