Tips on getting a 3com impact iq to work

I recently acquired a 3com impact iq with a lavaport-ISA 16650 serial card.
I've got some questions though.  Firstly, how can I get the serial port
going at 230400?  The modem does not respond to at commands at above 9600.
What do you suspect there?  That's all for now.
