I was having problems with diald 0.99.2 dropping ftp packets. The same problems did not occur with ppp-on. I compared the output of "ps -axww | grep pppd" to my ppp-on script and noticed some major differences. I added "asyncmap 20A0000" to my ppp-options and now ftp works again.
