I am trying the exact method.

WVDIAL works great. Connects, pings, ftps, etc.

DIALD using WVDIAL doesn't.

My /etc/diald/diald.conf file:

accept any 420 any
device /dev/ttyS0
modem
speed 115200
lock
crtscts
connect '/etc/ppp/ppp-up-wvdial'
disconnect '/etc/ppp/ppp-down-wvdial'
mode ppp
local 192.168.0.1
remote 192.168.0.2
defaultroute
dynamic
up-delay 5
redial-timeout 10
fifo /etc/diald/diald.ctl

My /etc/ppp/ppp-up-wvdial file:

#!/bin/sh
#
# script to start 'wvdial'
wvdial &

My /etc/ppp/ppp-down-wvdial file:

#!/bin/sh
#
# script to kill 'wvdial'
killall wvdial

My /etc/ppp/options file:

noauth
debug

My /etc/wvdial.conf file:

Modem = /dev/ttys0
Baud = 115200
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 S11=55 +FCLASS=0
Dial Command = ATX3DT
Phone = 555-5555
Username = myusername
Password = mypassword
Auto DNS = 1
Stupid Mode = 1

My /etc/sysconfig/network file:

NETWORKING="yes"
FORWARD_IPV4="yes"
HOSTNAME="whatever"
GATEWAY=""
GATEWAYDEV=""

My /etc/rc.d/rc.local file's last line is

/etc/rc.d/rc.firewall

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

John

Hola,

this work put & on the end of the line connect, and in the disconnect put
a script that kill wvdial ( killall wvdial )

then in the diald.conf put this line

connect '/etc/diald/ppp-up-wvdial &'
disconnect '/etc/diald/ppp-down-wvdial'

---
where /etc/diald/ppp-down-wvdial

#!/bin/sh

killall wvdial
