I have problems configuring diald - have spent the best part of a week
before I embarass myself to you gurus! Can I be helped ?

I have been testing that diald comes up using the kill -s SIGUSR1 pid.
and now it does come up but goes down pretty much straight away.
Also I cannot get diald to come up at all - the process is sitting there but
it doesn't work for me.
I feel as if I am close but out of ideas! Really need help - please!

The log from sending diald a SIGUSR1 is as follows:

The "filter ignored rule 0 proto 134645480 len 70 packet 192.168.0.1,1030
=> 203.97" crops up a few times which doesn't look good ? PPP is compiled
into the kernel. The modules.conf has been edited to fix a serial problem in
SuSE linux 2.2.13 where the module was installed after serial support is
already in the kernel. The same diald problem existed before it was
modified.
I have a local named running with no root hints so as to resolve only local
domain hosts.
The /etc/resolv.conf has the local named and the name server at the ISP
specified 203.97.33.1 and a backup DNS at 203.97.37.1
The ip-up script just runs sendmail -q which is set up with a smart relay
host off site
I have modified the standard.filter rules only to comment out the ignore tcp
domain packet statements in an attempt to
