These messages are in reference to the ethertap interface.  If you
haven't got that setup you can ignore them.

Hmmm.  I don't really know what that means.

When all of this is done do you have an interface sl0 in your
routing tables?  If so, then those error messages are likely
unimportant.

This means that you have the slip module enabled.  So, yes,
it should work with your kernel.

If you don't have the sl0 in your routing table, then Something
Interesting[tm] is going on.

I don't think that anybody ever said that diald was easy to 
setup, but it is definitely rewarding when properly configured.
