Ooh this one as been bugging me for some time to! The problem lies with
piping not working, why I do not now.
Solution: in one of your config files change
connect "chat .... " to connect "chat ..... >/dev/rocket1 </dev/rocket1"
In the usual case /dev/rocket1 would be /dev/modem ofcourse.
