Hi there,

This modem is JUST used for internet connections with diald. The reason I
need to get the information from the modem is to prove a point to the local
telephone company about the bad grade lines I am subjected to. The AT&V1
command tells you all the information about the telephone line quality and
gives reasons why the carrier was dropped. To get the information, I need to
have a trigger on when PPPD/diald have relased the modem lock.

Thats the whole story...
Regards,
Richard Parsons

I
If you want to reset the modem when diald has finished, then I suppose
you also use the modem for other purposes than internet connections (if
not there would be no reason for doing it); if so, tell your getty
program to reset the modem when it's unlocked (with mgetty it would be
the "init-chat" parameter).
