Hi, I guees I already wrote this

ppp-on SHOULD NOT LAUNCH pppd !!!!!
It should be a CHAT script !!!

put in your diald.conf something as

connect  /etc/ppp/ppp-on-dialer


(and set your phone numers in ppp-on-dialer)
also, in ppp-on-dialer change 'chat'  to 'chat -v '
to get verbose messages in /var/log/messages
