Hello everyone, as I have been reading about silent PCs for 2-3 months now, I will share my knowledge here. Unfortunately, I do not have my links here, so I will have to try to get things back together. Power Control for fans: http://www.fanbus.com Fanless Power supply: http://www.tkpower.com (they are not listed, but they exist. Ask via Email) Less noise: http://www.7volts.com German Online Overclockers Magazine (Electronics Forum) http://www.goom.(de/net/org?) For equipment: http://www.com-tra.de http://www.overclockingcard.de Passive Coolers: http://www.zalman.co.kr I can't remember more. Only one thing: it is way easier to avoid noise, than to silence it out. One more thing: Powersupply Silencing Mods a) take the fan simply out. If you are lucky, it will survive a looooong time (no guarantee) b) take the fan out. make a hole in the ps-casing on the opposite side of the already existing airflow opening. mount the fan there. let it blow the air through the ps out the original opening. noise stays inside the pc-case and hardly gets out. the hot air still does. (WARNING: high voltages in the ps when it has been in use for a long time) Well, one more: a cheapo AT ps you can get at http://www.pollin.de Got to order the paper catalogue though ( I think) This stuff will get you the basic idea. If needed I will provide even more links and insights (only theoretical, as I have not had the time for acutally doing so). Best to all of you, Andreas -----Ursprngliche Nachricht----- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Gesendet: Sonntag, 19. Hint: if possible for you, look to the last issue of the german computer magazin "c't, No. 17". Artikle "Der leise PC" (The silent PC). You can found some urls at the bottom of this page: http://www.heise.de/ct/01/17/112/ I am also working on this. Many thanks to Martin Hammerschmid for his software awaking a pc from lan. I try this as soon as possible. Because I have a Pentium166 running as a file server (linux suse64) in the cellar and installed 100Mbit Nic's I have now only the fan from cpu and power supply as noise sources. I hope to get a passive cooler for the cpu and the last harddrive is gone with boot from lan. What I have not seen up to now is a fanless power supply (my notebook has one). For cooling of the DVB-s card I have installed a temperature regulated fan (92x92x25 mm) which run very slow.
