OK, I did what you said... It seems like the driver detects them corectly... (like I said, the /dev/dvb tree is correct) So the output of lspci -vvn is (note I'm using mandrake and the command is somewhat different):
[root@server1 root]# lspcidrake -v .... unknown : Philips Semiconductors|SAA7146 [MULTIMEDIA_OTHER] (vendor:1131 device:7146 subv:13c2 subd:1005) unknown : Philips Semiconductors|SAA7146 [MULTIMEDIA_OTHER] (vendor:1131 device:7146 subv:13c2 subd:1005) unknown : Philips Semiconductors|SAA7146 [MULTIMEDIA_OTHER] (vendor:1131 device:7146 subv:13c2 subd:1005) unknown : Philips Semiconductors|SAA7146 [MULTIMEDIA_OTHER] (vendor:1131 device:7146 subv:13c2 subd:1003) unknown : Philips Semiconductors|SAA7146 [MULTIMEDIA_OTHER] (vendor:1131 device:7146 subv:13c2 subd:1003) ... So I guess it is correct (3 subd=1005 and 2 subd=1003)... Puzling is that when I interrogate the frontend devices I get 4-dvbt and 1-dvbs... IMHO it may be from the fact that the drivers have an implicit number of cards that is less_or_equal to 4. To make the modules install corectly, I did those changes in the drivers sources (I mentioned them in the previous mails). Maybe those changes are not enough or they are incorrect...
