The MAC address of the TT-Budget/WinTV-Nova-CI cards is in a coded format on a 24c16 serial EEPROM that hangs off the card's i2c bus.
The DVB and dvb-kernel CVS repos as of 6/16/03 should now read this data, decode it, and store it in a new field "proposed_mac" in the adapter struct so that when a network interface is attached, this MAC address is assigned automatically. Indeed, when apps/dvbnet/net_start.pl runs all network interfaces should have the correct MAC addr, although this can be changed with ifconfig. Next time somebody is running net_start.pl perhaps they could check that their MAC address was read correctly? Not entirely sure which cards this should work on.
