I'm quite new to this list and to dvb too.
You're welcome. 8-)
I'm using the 2.4.21 kernel with the v4l2 patch from bytesex.org. I'm using the dvb-kernel driver from the cvs repository. Compiling and
insmod'ing the av7110 driver and vesxxx works and digital viewing with vdr and
xawtv also.
Ok.
The driver also recognizes my analog module.
Switching to Video Source "Analog" brings me just "snow" and xawtv display errors:
valid choices for "input": "DVB", "ANALOG" ioctl: VIDIOC_G_FREQUENCY(tuner=0;type=unknown;frequency=0): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOC_S_FREQUENCY(tuner=0;type=ANALOG_TV;frequency=772): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOC_G_TUNER(index=0;name="";type=unknown;capability=0x0 [];rangelow=0;rangehigh=0;rxsubchans=0x0 [];audmode=MONO;signal=0;afc=0): Invalid argument v4l2: read: Input/output error ioctl: VIDIOC_S_FREQUENCY(tuner=0;type=ANALOG_TV;frequency=884): Invalid argument ioctl: VIDIOC_G_TUNER(index=0;name="";type=unknown;capability=0x0 [];rangelow=0;rangehigh=0;rxsubchans=0x0 [];audmode=MONO;signal=0;afc=0): Invalid argument
Which version of "xawtv" are you using?
For me, latest "dvb-kernel" + xawtv 3.88 works.
(xawtv complains that it cannot get informations about the tuner when the input DVB is selected. But this is a bug in xawtv, because it does not honour the "I'm a camera input, and I don't have a tuner" bit.)
I think the problem is the 2.4 kernel, but using 2.5. (or 2.6) kernel makes loading modules impossible (even I'm using modutils 2.4.25), so where is my mistake?
I've used 2.6.0-test1 with the patches from the "patches-2.6" directory successfully (using modutils 2.4.25, too).
Pleas post the error messages you get when you try to load the modules and your kernel configuration.
Thanks for any help, and thanks for the great work on the dvb-driver, Patrick
CU Michael.
