I'm using the dvb-kernel drivers with 2.4.21 kernel. I compiled and
installed the modules without problems, but after that I don't know what
to do.

I'm trying to use it with tvtime, but I don't seem to be able to tune to
any channels. How does this work with an application like tvtime?  That
is, does tvtime use the V4L tuner API to change channels, or do you need
to use a separate app, or what?
The av7110 driver from "dvb-kernel" has two sides: the "analog" video 
output you see on your screen is controlled via Video4Linux-2, the 
"digital" stuff (especially tuning) is controlled via the DVB API.

So unless DVB-tuning support is added to tvtime, you need to tune using 
a separate tuning solution, for example czap or dvbtune.
