Thanks for the quick reply... I'm still not getting any joy though..
I only have the modules you mention inserted:
Module Size Used by Tainted: P alps_tdmb7 5540 0 (unused) dvb-ttusb-budget 24172 0 (unused) dvb-core 52876 0 [alps_tdmb7 dvb-ttusb-budget]
dmesg shows the following when inserting the drivers, and attaching the nova:
usb.c: registered new driver Technotrend/Hauppauge USB-Nova intel8x0: clocking to 48000 hub.c: new USB device 00:03.0-2, assigned address 2 ttusb_init_controller: unknown STC version V 2.1, please report! ttusb_init_controller: dsp-version: 0.0 DVB: registering new adapter (Technotrend/Hauppauge Nova-USB). DVB: registering frontend 0:0 (Alps TDMB7)... usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed dev 2 rqt 128 rq 6 len 18 ret -32 usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed dev 2 rqt 128 rq 6 len 18 ret -32
I'm now not sure - is it the usbdevfs lines that are of issue, or the STC version?
I still have no dvb devices:
ls -l /dev/dv* ls: /dev/dv*: No such file or directory
I'm going to try building a new kernel, but if you can think of anything that may be pertinent, I'd be grateful...
If you don't use devfs (udev for 2.6 kernels) you need to run the makedev.napi script to create the device nodes. it's part of the release tarball or located in CVS, module DVB: DVB/driver/makedev.napi.
