Is there a way to get rid of it?
If I watch my TV I can't find those lines.

It's like the TV is able to smooth edges, maybe with some averaging.
It happens with all applications (kaffeine, mplayer, xine) and it looks to be 
worse on BBC that 
Channel4 (& friends).
